How Often Should You Post on Social Media?

One of the most common questions social media marketers have, when they want to optimize their marketing results from social media, is "how often should I post on each platform?" 

The answer to this question is not one-size-fits-all, as the frequency of posting on different social media channels varies depending on the platform and your specific target audience.

Here is a guide to help you optimize your content marketing results from different social media channels.

Note: these are recommendation averages from multiple social media experts and content scheduling tool companies. You don't have to be present on all social media platforms, or focus on all of them. We recommend that you pick at least one of two platforms where you do post the recommended optimal "best" amount of content.

How Often to Post on Facebook?

Posting too frequently on Facebook can result in decreased engagement and even harm your reach. The ideal frequency for Facebook is one post per day or at least 3-4 times per week. Make sure to post at different times of the day to reach different audiences.

How Often to Post on Instagram?

Instagram is a highly visual platform that is ideal for sharing photos and videos, and the best is if you alternate content types. The Best: 10-25 Pins a day.

How Often to Post on Twitter?

Twitter is a fast-paced platform. For good results, it's recommended to tweet 3-6 times per day, spaced out between the morning, afternoon, and evening. You can also tweet more frequently if you have breaking news or are participating in a live event, and especially if you engage with your audience.

Better: 3 – 6 tweets a day.

How Often to Post on YouTube?

YouTube is a video-sharing platform that is highly popular among younger audiences. For optimal results, it's recommended to upload 1-2 videos per week, and each video should be at least 10 minutes long. Consistency is key on YouTube, so make sure to create a content calendar and stick to it.
